Nose Surgery in ISCARE Prague

* There are very little people with a perfect nose. The unwanted size or shape of the nose is normally inherited or as a result of an injury. At ISCARE, we can help you correct these anomalies by a nose surgery.

** General information about treatment

The nose is constructed by a bone and a cartilage. The deformities such as humps, enlarged nose tip, or asymmetry can be adjusted by a plastic surgeon. If the procedure is done only to the cartilage system, local anesthesia is used. If the nose bone has to be adjusted, general anesthesia is used followed by 1-2 days of hospitalization. The surgeon approaches the nose through the nostrils so no scars are left on the skin. All the structures in the nose are separated, modified and reshaped, and then fixed in a new position. To reduce the size of the tip and by that create a nicer contour, parts of the cartilage are normally removed. For a prettier angle between the lips and nose, the septum is trimmed to lift the nasal tip. The rhynoplasty can be performed once the nasal system is fully grown, which is normally after 18 years of age.

** Consultation with the doctor

Before the rhinoplasty, there is a detailed discussion with the surgeon about which approach to take and what exactly you expect as an outcome. You will be informed about the surgery duration, possible risks and the postoperative care.

** Before and after treatment

Before the surgery the patient undertakes an examination by our internist (blood test, ECG, evaluation of health status).

The whole operation takes approximately 2 hours and is done either under local or general anesthesia. We recommend a 1-2 day stay at our clinic in the case of general anesthesia.

Right after the surgery, the patient receives a plaster fixation on the nose, which is kept on for 10 days. Also, nasal tampons are inserted and can be removed after 3-4 days. The rhinoplasty may cause some bruises around the eyes. These can be treated by cold compresses. Interesting is, that patients do not experience much pain after this surgery.

** Potential complications
  • Very little bleeding
  • As with any surgery, there is a risk of thrombosis.
Prices

The price for complete rhinoplasty (cartilage and bone structure) is £ 1.760.
The patient pays £ 175 for the pre-operational examination, £ 155 for general anaeshesia and £ 105 for each night stay at the Clinic.
