** Consultation with the doctor

Prior to the surgery, there is a detailed discussion with the surgeon about which approach to take and what exactly you expect as an outcome. ** Before and after treatment

Before the surgery the patient undertakes an examination by our internist (blood test, ECG, evaluation of health status). The whole operation takes approximately 2-3 hours and is done under general anesthesia. How to best choose the incisions depends on the type and size of your excess skin and is agreed prior to the surgery. Usually, it is performed in the so called “bikini line” just above the pubis area so that after healing, the scar is invisible under clothing. After the surgery, an elastic band should be worn for 6 weeks. The hospitalization is normally 1 day followed by 2-3 days of bed rest, where legs must be bent to relieve the operated abdomen area. Overall recovery takes approximately 6 weeks. No sport is allowed for 2 month. The scars should not be exposed to solar radiation (sun bathing or solarium) for 2 months. The overall result depends on the amount of excess skin taken away, age, and weight.

** Potential complications
  • Very little bleeding and swelling (lasts for aproximately 2 weeks)
  • During the healing process the scars can slightly change color (brown, pink), but fade out over time
  • As with any surgery, there is a risk of thrombosis
